The Organics industry in Australia
|
The Australian Organics industry has a National Production Standard for export goods, administered under the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS). The certifying and auditing of all levels of the industry to this standard is carried out by one or more certifying bodies accredited by AQIS.
For this purpose, the certifying bodies provide logos which, for the payment of a levy and as proof of compliance, may be displayed on certified products. Stoney Creek’s certification is administered by NASAA (National Association of Sustainable Agriculture Australia).

The industry is represented at government and international level by the peak body Organic Federation of Australia (OFA). Both organic and bio-dynamic methods are practiced by a growing number of farmers who are concerned for human and environmental health.
