Flaxseed Crackers Recipe

Date Posted:23 April 2024

Flaxseed crackers are a great gluten-free and low-carb snack. You can enjoy them on their own, with one of our tasty dips or alongside cheese and grapes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ground flaxseeds (flaxseed meal)
  • 1/4 cup whole flaxseeds
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • Herbs or spices of your choice (EG: rosemary, thyme, paprika, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the flaxseeds and water: Combine the ground flaxseeds, whole flaxseeds, water, salt, and optional garlic/onion powder in a bowl. Mix well to form a thick and sticky dough.
  3. Let the mixture rest: Allow the mixture to rest for about 10-15 minutes. The flaxseeds will absorb the water, and the mixture will thicken.
  4. Roll out the dough: Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough evenly to your desired thickness. Thinner crackers will be crispier.
  5. Add herbs and spices: If desired, sprinkle your choice of herbs or spices over the rolled-out dough. Gently press them into the surface.
  6. Cut the dough into shapes: Use a knife or a pizza cutter to cut the rolled-out dough into squares or rectangles. You can also use cookie cutters for fun shapes.
  7. Transfer to baking sheet: Carefully transfer the cut crackers, along with the parchment paper, to a baking sheet.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the crackers are crisp. Keep an eye on them to prevent over-baking.
  9. Cool: Allow the crackers to cool completely on the baking sheet. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
  10. Store: Once cooled, store the flaxseed crackers in an airtight container. They should stay fresh for a week or more.

Enjoy!
